niño
milo j, 2025
recommended for all of cortis
“niño” by milo j is a deep reflection on childhood, nostalgia and the emotional pain that comes with difficult experiences. its images of nature symbolize a simpler, purer time, contrasting the protagonist’s current sadness with his desire to return to innocence and unconditional love.
content note: suicidal ideation, grief

bc you'll get by with a smile :-)
in a world full of doubts and frowns, a little smile would go a long way.

recommended for coer
a compelling alternative r&b/pop album full of ruminations on loss, heartbreak, loneliness, self-doubt and what-ifs, all layered with synths, percussion and strings. †priscilla† is a beautiful album that takes you through the stages of a relationship falling apart.

recommended for seonghyeon
he might like the tempo and overall tone :)
deathmetal
panchiko, 2000
recommended for all of cortis
“deathmetal” by british band panchiko is about how others construct a version of you without ever truly understanding you. its deteriorated sound makes it feel like a mysterious recording from another era, which helped turn panchiko into a cult phenomenon.
memoir of a snail
adam elliot, 2024
recommended for james
this film felt like a comfort zone and source of understanding during a difficult time. it’s a sensitive, artistic story about how even unexpected connections can give meaning to everything and make you appreciate the little things and people who come into your life :)
content note: intense mature themes, graphic violence, substance abuse, moderate language
式日 (ritual)
hideaki anno, 2000
recommended for juhoon
“do you know what tomorrow is? tomorrow’s my birthday!” 🎂
she repeats this ritual every day, always giving herself another tomorrow to look forward to while escaping a reality she can’t face. since juhoon liked one million yen girl, he might connect with its quiet loneliness and desire to connect, plus the pretty framing, mixed-media animation and camcorder footage.
content note: suicidal ideation, mental health struggles, substance use, mature themes
