alfonsina y el mar
mercedes sosa, 1969
recommended for all of cortis
he poetically describes the writer’s lonely walk toward the sea, reflecting on the anguish and suffering that led her to take her own life. he imagines her eternal rest and transformation into legend, cradled by shells and sea mermaids, masterfully interpreted by mercedes sosa.

the holdovers
alexander payne, 2023
recommended for coer
this movie reminds people the importance of surrounding yourself with the grace and love, how being around the correct people can make a change in your perception of the world. you are never alone in a planet so full of individuals you just have to find the right ones.

the worst person in the world
joachim trier, 2018
recommended for coer
the movie shows that making mistakes and doubting your life doesn’t make you a bad person. it’s a sad story about being human and discovering yourself.
content note: graphic sexual content, substance use, intense mature themes
té para tres
soda stereo, 1990
recommended for all of cortis
a moving acoustic ballad by soda stereo, inspired by the moment gustavo cerati’s family learned of his father’s cancer diagnosis and how they faced the devastating news together.

mid90s
jonah hill, 2018
recommended for all of cortis
it has that raw, youthful, and carefree energy that matches their vibe. it’s about friendship, growing up, finding where you belong, and making memories with people around you, while also showing the messy parts of being young. plus, the skate culture, ’90s aesthetic, music, and laid-back atmosphere make it feel like the kind of movie they’d appreciate.
content note: explicit language, suicide, drinking/drug use, sexual content, mature scenes involving a minor

every dawn’s a mountain
tamino, 2025
recommended for all of cortis
i think that this could be juhoon’s style, but at the same time i feel like all the members enjoy calm music as well, judging by their recommendations. tamino is an extremely talented belgian-egyptian singer and i can definitely recommend all of his work, but i chose his most recent album. every dawn’s a mountain is essentially a conceptual exploration of loss, change, and letting go. in his music, he pays a lot of attention to the instrumentals, and you can really feel that while listening to this album. his emotional and magical voice blends beautifully with the ethereal, sometimes even angelic, instrumentals. for instrument enthusiasts, he often uses ancient instruments such as the oud, which is also what makes his work so unique and admirable.

ali, 2023
recommended for all of cortis
ali (@ali_radio) is a musical project originated from jakarta-indonesia bringing mix of middle east groove with indonesian 70s rock sound, afrobeats, and even soul & disco twists. since they all seem to enjoy rock & are open about various musical genres, i think the members will enjoy this band as much as i do for their eclectic flair and funky vibes. i'm also more than ecstatic to introduce the contemporary music scene from where i come from
jealousy
rubii, 2024
recommended for seonghyeon
i feel like he'd pay attention to the lyrics and relate to them to a certain extent.. her vocal tone is very lowkey but at the same time her delivery is delicious !! i think he'd love the instrumentals too! based off of his music recommendations so far (which imo has been rnb a solid amount of the time) this fits pretty well :)
