the cortis queue
a coerated collection of sounds, stories, and scenes.
tren al sur
los prisioneros, 1990
recommended for all of cortis
a chilean latin rock song with synth-pop influences and a really special melody. i think you might enjoy its feeling of nostalgia and peace, it’s about stepping away from routine and life’s pressures to find peace somewhere far away or in small, quiet moments ♡
stand by me
rob reiner , 1986
recommended for martin
the ultimate story about brotherhood, nostalgia, and figuring out who you are with your best friends by your side. as the leader, that bond and coming-of-age journey would totally hit home for him. plus, the classic rock and vintage aesthetic are right up his alley.
content note: strong language, minor violence, mature themes

amarte duele
carolina rivera, fernando sariñana, 2002
recommended for james
it's a mexican movie from the early 2000s. i know james likes films that move him emotionally and i think this one would be a good option.
content note: death, harassment, sexual or suggestive content, moderate violence
exit through the gift shop
banksy, 2010
recommended for all of cortis
its a documentary about street artists and the commercialization of art. its an interesting documentary satire that i think the members would enjoy since its a commentary on art creation itself.
content note: mild profanity, smoking, themes of illegal street art
de música ligera
soda stereo, 1990
recommended for all of cortis
with their alt-rock, skate-punk vibe and influences like tame impala and alice in chains, they’d connect with its iconic guitar riff and raw energy. like color outside the lines, “de música ligera” broke boundaries and refused to be boxed in, making its fearless expression a natural match for cortis.
the princess bride
rob reiner, 1987

one of my comfort movies! it’s super funny, with great dynamic characters. both cute and cool story lines! just a great movie overall

“i know what it’s like to feel different.”
“i’m not different… am i?”

monster
hirokazu koreeda, 2023
recommended for james
monster has everything james seems to value: empathy, humanity, visual beauty, and personal storytelling that rewards attentiveness. its quiet cinematography, small gestures, and ryuichi sakamoto’s music give it enormous emotional weight. this feels like a film he could genuinely love.
content note: bullying, family conflict, mental health struggles, self-harm themes
soledad y el mar
natalia lafourcade/los macorinos, 2017
recommended for keonho
i noticed some of the songs keonho recommends are slow and relaxing, so maybe he’d like boleros! this song is very well known in latin america and mentions the sea, the feeling of water hugging you and making you feel light.
midnight marauders
a tribe called quest, 1993
recommended for all of cortis
another one of the best rap albums of all time!! the pen on this album is immaculate and rlly captures the ny vibe. cortis, especially martin if he doesn’t already know this album, would love it imo.
content note: explicit lyrics
el nervio del volcan
