asato asato, 2021
recommended for all of cortis
since they mentioned watching a lot of anime during pre-debut, like attack on titan and naruto, i really think they’d like 86 because it has similar themes, great visuals, a strong plot, and really well-developed characters. it’s devastating and deeply immersive in a way that makes you feel a lot and think about certain things differently afterward.

cyberpunk edgerunners

recommended for james
as a fellow anime connoisseur, i think james would really love this show. everything about it is so sick, from the character design to the world building. and also i feel like it just gives off james vibes.

stranger things
matt & ross duffer, 2016
recommended for cortis
it can be a little scary at times, but it also has plenty of funny and emotional moments that balance it out. some people might find parts of it inappropriate, especially in season one, but overall it’s still one of my favorite shows and definitely worth watching.

mousetrap
kim hong-sun, 2026
recommended for coer
it’s a really good detective series that i couldn’t get enough of. you’re taken along in the insanity of the main character almost like you’re living there lives then once the plot twist hits you feel completely fooled.

one of the things that caught my attention about cortis was how genuine their friendship looks and how much they understand each other as people. that's why i think they would enjoy watching this series a lot since friendship is shown in a very real and pure way. also the characters are so well written and the fight scenes are SO good.
content note: violence, bullying, mature themes

a genuinely funny show with many sentimental moments sprinkled in that i think james would love. :)

kaiba (カイバ)
masaaki yuasa, 2008
recommended for james
since you love violet evergarden but also crave heavy sci-fi, you have to watch kaiba . it’s directed by masaaki yuasa (edgerunners, devilman crybaby). the art looks like a trippy retro cartoon, but it's a super dark cyberpunk story about stealing bodies and trading memories. it’s peak existentialism, heartbreak, and elite visual inspo

a raw love story. depicts quite realistic relationships, not just in terms of romantic relationships, but also friendships and the hardships you face in your 20s.

ao haru ride
io sakisaka, 2014
recommended for james
considering james has previously mentioned that he likes kimi ni todoke and even said it was one of his favorite animes, i believe he would also enjoy ao haru ride because it holds the same slice of life with slow romance vibes.
content note: grief, loss, social isolation

it’s history important and is a korean history drama which raises more awareness in their peoples struggles i think its historically important and its based off a novel as well i think they will enjoy it

mononoke
kenji nakamura, 2007

one of the best anime with one season imo. the art style is insane; it feels like watching a theatre play, but it's animated. the storytelling pulls you in and has you questioning things alongside the medicine seller. do yourself a favour and watch it!!
