i think james would like the style and vibe of that anime, also since he‘s into thrifting/vintage! it implements themes like waste culture, anti-authoritarian structures and classism. i think he would enjoy the concept of objects gaining power from a persons deep attachment to it, basically reflecting the users soul and thoughts :)
