honestly, i think sun bleached flies is one of those songs that everyone should experience at least once. there’s something about it that feels incredibly personal while still being really easy to connect with, and i love how hayden manages to make the lyrics feel so honest without overcomplicating them. i think cortis might really like it, or just ethel cain in general, especially since they’re into music that has a really strong atmosphere and feels like it’s telling a story.

i’d especially recommend listening to it when you have some time to yourself and can actually pay attention to it. the whole song feels so bittersweet and almost nostalgic, and the way everything comes together toward the end makes it hit so much harder. it’s definitely one of those songs that i feel like you can listen to at completely different points in your life and take something new from it every time.

the line “if it’s meant to be, then it will be” also makes me think of cortis in a really sweet way. they met randomly, united by their dreams and passions, and somehow that brought them together to create something that feels (and is) so much bigger than just being in the same group. i think there’s something really beautiful about how they found each other and built such a genuine bond along the way. it makes me believe that some things really do happen for a reason, and that the people who are meant to be in your life will find their way there.
